Edit and enhance a SketchUp render
To revise a SketchUp render without re-rendering, export the image, upload it to LayerHouse, select the area, and give the change. The rest of the view stays as approved.
The model is done and the view is approved, then the client asks for a different floor, a warmer facade, or a swapped piece of furniture. Going back to SketchUp to adjust and render again costs a cycle for a small change.
LayerHouse is the AI render editor for architects. It works on the image you exported, so it fits any SketchUp workflow.
How it works
- Export your SketchUp render as JPG, PNG, or WEBP.
- Upload it to LayerHouse and select the region to change.
- Write the instruction, or attach a texture reference.
- Review the result against the approved view and repeat if needed.
What people change after a SketchUp render
- Floor and wall finishes. See changing a material in a render.
- Facade cladding.
- One object in the scene, such as a sofa, a plant, or a lamp.
- Small areas that did not come out right.
Edit or re-render from SketchUp?
Go back to SketchUp when the design changes: a new camera, a moved wall, a different massing, or a new lighting study. Edit the image when the design is settled and the request is about how something looks. A finish, a color, or one object is almost always the second case, and an edit keeps everything the client already approved.
A typical revision round
The client signs off on the view and sends three notes: the floor should be oak, the sofa should be darker, and the planter by the window should go. In LayerHouse that is three selections on the same image, each with its own instruction, instead of three trips back to SketchUp and three new render cycles. Because only the selected region changes, you can check each note against the approved view before moving on.
Tips for better edits
- Export at the resolution you plan to deliver, as JPG, PNG, or WEBP.
- Select only the area that should change, and keep the selection tight.
- Attach the real texture when the material matters, instead of describing it.
- Make one change at a time so each result is easy to check.
- Keep your original export. Edit a copy so you can always go back.
What it is not
LayerHouse does not render your SketchUp model and is not an image generator. If you want AI views generated from inside SketchUp, see LayerHouse vs Veras.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a SketchUp plugin?
No. LayerHouse works on the exported image (JPG, PNG, or WEBP), so there is nothing to install in SketchUp.
Does LayerHouse render my SketchUp model?
No. It edits a render you already have. Use SketchUp and your renderer to produce the view, then use LayerHouse for revisions.
Will the rest of my image change?
The edit is localized to the region you select. Geometry and composition outside it are left alone. Always compare the result with your approved view.
How much does it cost?
Free is $0 with 3 credits and 3 projects. Pro is $29 per month with 50 credits. Ultra is $49 per month with 100 credits.
